Even the original breeders at Barney’s Farm won’t pretend Laughing Buddha is an easy strain to grow. You’ll need to commit quite a lot of tender love and care to see these buds to fruition, but its unique heady high and tasty citrus flavour make the effort worthwhile. Nevertheless, you might want to think twice if you’re just starting out in the cultivation scene.
Laughing Buddha grows well both indoors and out. Given its landrace roots, the strain thrives in hot and humid climates with a consistent dose of blazing daytime sun—think Florida rather than Alaska. Indoor growers will need to prune and trim the plant continually, especially in the early vegetative stage when it attempts to outgrow its confines. As is typical of your pure sativa strains, Laughing Buddha requires a long harvesting time for hydro growers, usually somewhere between 11 and 12 weeks. If you’re growing outdoors, expect the buds to be ready for harvesting around the end of October.
Laughing Buddhas buds and colas are exceptionally plump, almost as buxom as the Buddha himself. Therefore, you may need to bolster your plant with stakes to prevent the branches from drooping under the excess weight.
The strain yields an impressive output of approximately 2 ounces (56 grams) of bud per square foot.
