DIRECTOR, COMMERCIALIZATION – TORONTO, ON
Reporting to the VP of Marketing, the Director of Commercialization, you will oversee the product commercialization process, develop and facilitate Stage Gate approval meetings with senior management and drive continuous improvement in the way new product launches are executed. This individual interfaces extensively with key stakeholders of all levels of leadership and across multiple functions including Consumer and Trade Marketing, Sales, Finance, and all functions within Supply Chain team (Procurement, Manufacturing and Customer Service & Logistics) to deliver projects on time and within cost and quality parameters.
Drive the implementation of the innovation pipeline and ensure all critical projects are properly classified, scope and relevant financials and legal assumptions are properly defined, documented and communicated to all relevant stakeholders
Implement a best in class product development and management stage gate approval process
Facilitate monthly business unit stage gate meetings to enable senior management discussion on new product commercialization readiness and secure approval to progress gates
Develop methods for monitoring project progress and communicating to a senior management audience.
Complete risk assessments, contingency planning and escalation as required to keep projects on track to deliver on business needs.
Facilitate project kick off meetings with functional stakeholders and put in place best practice guidelines for defining project scope, timeline, complexity and resource needs impacting launch feasibility.
Lead cross-functional teams in the execution of strategic and highly complex projects to meet the revenue, volume, growth, productivity, quality goals and priorities.
Change Management and Continuous Improvement.
Lead cross functional team deep dives to identify and address process inefficiencies. Employ standardized root causes analysis frameworks to identify the key issues, develop detailed project plans and impactful solutions to be communicated to senior stakeholders.
University Degree or College Diploma required; 1-2 years of related experience in business development would be an asset; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
5+ years’ experience in product/project management in a leadership position, preferably at a FMCG organization.
The Operations Manager will manage multiple high-priority projects, while establishing best-work practices and processes across the Company. And will be responsible for leading both strategic and operational integration projects that are delivered on-schedule and on-budget.
Develops and contributes ideas and opinions about strategic issues for consideration by Senior Management. This includes collecting relevant data, analyzing data, and developing presentations to present to Senior Management.
Liaise with all relevant stakeholders to build out robust project plans to drive the entire lifecycle of both strategic and operational integration projects.
Coordinate all necessary resources to ensure timely delivery of projects – Be solutions-oriented to resolve any and all issues which may impact the successful (and timely) completion of projects.
Develop all aspect of projects, including project plan, schedule and implement effective reporting to keep project stakeholders and Senior Management informed on key project metrics.
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
Manage changes to the project scope, schedule, and costs.
Acts as a strong leader/facilitator in the development and implementation of work processes with current business units for identifying, sharing, and making recommendations to create and institutionalize operational best practices across the organization. Includes follow-up and tracking procedures to ensure best practices are implemented.
